Thailand’s express parcel delivery market is bustling with activity, driven by the booming e-commerce sector. The rise of online shopping platforms and the growing popularity of Shoppertainment have revolutionized the way parcels are delivered across the country.
With an average daily parcel volume soaring to 7-8 million items, it’s no surprise that the market value is on a steady incline. ShipHub, a leading logistics platform service, underscores this growth fueled by the rapid expansion of e-commerce as a key pillar of Thailand’s digital economy.
In this dynamic landscape, competition among key players like Thailand Post, Flash Express, J&T Express, and Kerry Express (KEX) is fierce. These companies are not only vying for market share but also striving to innovate and leverage technology to stay ahead. ShipHub notes that operators are exploring advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance their services and gain a competitive edge.
The integration of technology into logistics processes has been a game-changer in the industry. Real-time performance tracking and smart systems for parcel storage, sorting, and distribution have become essential tools for efficient operations. Mordor Intelligence projects significant growth in the Thai courier, express, and parcel market size from US$2.86 billion in 2025 to an estimated $4.04 billion by 2030.
Many delivery companies have reported impressive financial performances amidst this rapid evolution. Global JET Express (Thailand) witnessed a substantial revenue increase in 2024 while Flash Express returned to profitability after two years of losses due to strategic investments in technology infrastructure.
Despite these successes, challenges persist in maintaining profit margins amid stiff competition and pricing pressures. According to Thailand Post president Dhanant Subhadrabandhu, market fees for express parcel delivery services have declined significantly over recent years – from approximately 60 baht per piece down to 20 baht currently – impacting profitability across the industry.
Amidst this evolving landscape lies a focus on leveraging technology and strategic partnerships for sustained growth. Lily Chen from J&T Express Thailand highlights plans to deploy AI models such as DeepSeek to boost operational efficiency while expanding their retail partner network for wider customer outreach.
Kiattichai Pitpreecha, managing director of DHL eCommerce Southeast Asia emphasizes that quality will take precedence over price competitiveness moving forward:
“DHL’s service will prioritise quality over price.”
This shift signifies a broader industry trend towards enhancing service standards rather than engaging solely in price wars.
As we navigate through these transformations reshaping Thailand’s express delivery sector, one thing remains clear: innovation will be key to success in meeting evolving consumer demands while ensuring sustainable business growth.
